State Winter Games
February 22nd -24th, 2013
All events free and open to the public
Over 650 athletes and coaches from across the state will participate in the 2013 State Winter Games, featuring Floor Hockey at the Riverside Convention Center, Figure Skating and Speed Skating at Genesee Valley Ice Rink, Nordic Skiing at Bristol Mountain, Snowshoeing and Alpine Skiing at Swain Mountain.
The Winter Games are one of three annual state games and one of more than 3,500 total competitive experiences held each year throughout New York. All events are free and open to the public.
Opening Ceremonies: Friday, February 22nd at 8 PM at the Riverside Convention Center, featuring the Parade of Athletes, entertainment and the lighting of the Special Olympics Cauldron.
Athletic Competition: Saturday, February 23rd in six Olympic-style sports.
Volunteers are needed to:
Set up and break down sports venues, distribute lunches, sell merchandise, and help with our Opening Ceremonies and Olympic Village.Staff the following athletic venues: Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing, Figure Skating, Snowshoeing and Floor Hockey. The deadline for volunteer assignments given is February 1st; after that date all walk-in volunteers are welcome.
